The
excitement of the American Le Mans Series returns to
Portland International Raceway's 12-turn, 1.95 mile
track with its premiere high-tech and powerful prototype
racing machines. Add the nimble and quick modified production
cars, all on the track at the same time, and edge-of-your-seat
sports car racing is back! Follow your favorites, whether
it's Audi, Lola, Corvette, Ferrari, Dodge Viper, Saleen
Mustang, Porsche, BMW or Lamborghini.
See
many of the same cars and drivers who compete in the
legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in France each June. Get
a close look at all these exotic cars and their drivers
in the open paddock area. Autograph sessions, too!
This year welcomes the return of Porsche
to top level prototype racing, fielded by none other
than the legendary Roger Penske. Not ones to rest on
their laurels, Audi will be out to prove themselves
yet again with the all new R10. In GT2, Porsche will
face off with returning BMW and newcomer Lexus, providing
action at every end of the ALMS grid.
The
open-wheel Star Mazda Series is in the weekend lineup.
Their usual large field of cars with close racing and
aggressive passing makes this a fantastic race to watch.
New in 2005, and returning in 2006, is the IMSA-GT3
Cup Challenge Series presented by Michelin. The series
will allow amateur and semi-professional drivers, those
who do not make their living in motorsports, to compete
in a professional environment as part of select American
Le Mans Series weekends.
